Description
The Japanese quince (Chaenomeles japonica) is a colourful addition to the late winter or early spring garden. As late afternoon sunlight catches the scarlet-red flowers, the yellow stamens glow. The effect is even more striking because the blossoms appear on bare, thorny stems before the glossy leaves fully emerge.
