From the estate looking east towards Chatsworth House across a landscape radically transformed in the 18th century by Capability Brown whose vision was the rolling green landscape that is seen today.  Some of the elderly Common Oaks (Quercus robur) predates this period  and are a relic of the wooded hunting park and farmland that once occupied the site.
