Description
The Devil’s Point in Glen Dee, Aberdeenshire, is a subsidiary peak of Cairn Toul that lies 3km to the north. Part of the Cairngorm massif the peak marks the entrance to the Lairig Ghru, a pass that is one of the main routes through the largest continuous area of high ground within the British Isles. The Cairngorms are formed from granite intruded into the heart of the ancient Caledonian mountain belt, which has long since eroded away. The granite’s pink colour comes from iron and is clearly visible in the freshly worn riverbed rocks.
