Description
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) bears umbels of bright yellow flowers throughout midsummer, which, along with the leaves, are edible and reminiscent of aniseed. As with other umbellifers, fennel is a prolific self-seeder and it requires deadheading to stop it taking over the garden.
