Description
The Cliffs of Moher stretch for 8km along The Burren’s southwestern shore and rise 214m above sea level at their highest point. The cliffs are formed from alternating beds of sandstone, shale and siltstone and this accounts for their rapid weathering by the unrelenting Atlantic Ocean. The path that runs along the cliff top to distant Hag’s Head is badly affected by erosion and sections of it are now closed.
