Description
The Lizard on Cornwall’s southern tip is famed for its serpentine rock. The Serpentine or serpentinite found at Kynance Cove come in greens and reds intruded with veins of other minerals and is a metamorphic rock formed under intense heat and pressure. This material is unusual in that it is actually oceanic crust that has become attached to the main continental landmass, otherwise known as an ophiolite.
