Description
Haytor is on the eastern edge of Dartmoor in Devon, and is arguably the most well-known of all the tors in the area. It is composed of granite, which is an intrusive igneous rock formed underground in a magma chamber and exposed later by erosion. The deep incisions that create Haytor’s unmistakable profile are caused by frost shattering along joints in the rock.
