Description
Llyn Idwal sits between two mountain ranges in Snowdonia, the Glyderau to the south and the Carneddau to the north. Midway up the slopes of Glyder Fawr the view unfolds across the crags of Y Gribin, illuminated by a strip of sunshine. The shadowy pointed peak of Pen yr Ole Wen, rising to 978m, marks the beginning of the Carneddau. The lake sits at the southern end of Nant Ffrancon, a steep sided glaciated valley.
