A fallen male Scot’s pine (Pinus sylvestris) flower lies among a carpet of apple-green, trifolate wood sorrel (Oxalis acetosella) on the floor of a mixed deciduous and coniferous woodland. At the National Trust’s Longshaw Estate near Sheffield in South Yorkshire.
