Description
Early summer in Stafforshire’s Dove Valley and the hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) is in full bloom. On the other side of the valley High Wheeldon hill rises and at the it’s foot the River Dove winds past, hidden in a dip in the landscape and disguised by trees. An old field barn is caught in a beam of light spilling across a landscape of green fields edged with hedgerows, rather than the stone walls frequently seen in this part of the Peak District.
