Description

The towering White Cliffs of Dover are where the extensive North Downs chalk meet the sea.  Dramatic rock falls and substantial slips frequently befall these soft rocks.   This section is at St. Margaret-at-Cliffe, a village a little way to the east of Dover.  The bright chalk is easily seen from some distance and the cliffs are reputed to be the first part of Britain to be illuminated by the rising sun every day.
