Description

A single oak leaf (Quercus spp.) caught in the nook of a twig in Ecclesall Woods, Sheffield. This is an upland oak-birch woodland and oak is the dominant species. The only way to tell English oak (Q. robur from sessile oak (Q. petraea) is by examining how the acorns attach to the twigs.
