Description
The Hurkling Stones are a sandstone outcrop on the southern tip of Derwent Moor, Derbyshire. On the horizon Stanage End is lit up against shadowy surroundings of Moscar Moor and drectly below, Hordron Edge is also highlighted. The origin of the name ‘Hurkling’ is uncertain, but one meaning of ‘hurkle’ is to cower like an animal in the face of a storm.
