Description
The Idol Rock is one of the largest tors on Brimham Moor above Summerbridge in North Yorkshire. The huge sandstone outcrop rests on the narrowest of plinths created as different layers of rock have eroded at variable rates, with the softer parts weathering more quickly. The tor is just one of many of the named formations distributed across the moor, which collectively are one of the highlights of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
