Description
The cliffs of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast are considered to be among the finest examples of liassic coastline in the world. The cliffs are composed of sedimentary rock types, including carboniferous limestone and sandstone, liassic limestone, shale and mudstone. At Lavernock Point, the platforms of liassic limestone are famous for their high concentration of fossils.
