Description

Carpets of English bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) grow at the edge of Owler Car Wood, the largest woodland within the Moss Valley Nature Reserve, Northeast Derbyshire. Although they are shade tolerant bluebells grow best under the canopy of light-crowned species such as oak (Quercus spp.). They will fail to thrive or even go into decline where light levels are too low.
