Description
The purple coneflower ‘Sundown’ (Echinacea purpurea) cultivar has a striking pink-orange flower. Like its wild cousin, a native of the North American prairies, its flowers are much visited by pollinating insects. The fact that it is not native to the UK is secondary to the issue of how much food it offers. Daisy, or composite, flowers are generally good food sources for a variety of insects.
