Wood anemones and hazel, Gillfield Wood

SKU: N/A Categories: ,

Wood anemones (Anemone nemorosa) grow in woodland habitats, like here in Gillfield Wood, an ancient woodland on the western edge of Sheffield. They flower early in the year – they are among the first native plants to bloom – before the deciduous tree canopy closes over. Wood anenomes are especially important for early pollinators.
