Description

Clumps of pink-flowered sea thrift (Armeria maritima) populating a limestone pavement at Doolin on the edge of the Burren, County Clare.  These richly fertile limestone pavement habitats are the major feature of the Burren National Park and are normally found in upland and montane environments, however at Doolin they reach right down to the Atlantic Ocean and are home to maritime flora.
