Description

A large erratic limestone boulder, deposited by a retreating ice-sheet, sits on top of the Twisleton Scars limestone pavement in North Yorkshire.  Ingleborough (732m), a sandstone topped mountain that is the second highest peak in the Yorkshire Dales, rises on the other side of the dale.  This landscape shows both of the sedimentary rock types that comprise the bulk of the Pennine mountain chain.
