Description
The southern end of Stanage Edge rises abruptly from the windblown common heather (Calluna vulgaris) and purple moor grass (Molinia caerulea) covered moorland above Hathersage in Derbyshire. Stanage’s imposing sandstone escarpment extends northwards for roughly six kilometres. Win and Lose Hills can be seen in the near distance, beyond which lies Kinder Scout’s mountainous plateau.
