Description
Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) can be hard to tell apart from the more commonly seen beech (Fagus sylvatica). Hornbeam leaves are longer and narrower than beech, which appears rounder. Hornbeam bark is notable for its striated appearance; the North American’s know it as ‘musclewood’.
